Just a quick tip on another way to shutdown and restart a Se7en machine while you are in a rdp session:-

“Click the “Windows security” button under the start orb (only visible there when you are connected via Remote Desktop) you will be presented with a screen of choices. Click the red icon in the lower right corner of that screen and you will have choices to Restart, Sleep and Shutdown.”

Recently quite a few fake and malicious torrents have been appearing on the net and over at TorrentFreak they have produced an excellent guide for detecting and avoiding such fake torrents. Investigating and avoiding these torrents is done using the scrape file from the torrent site and then checking the hash value points to the correct source.

Fluid allows you to create individual apps from practically any web page.

For example, you can create an individual SSB (Site Specific Browser) for Twitter, Facebook and GMail. Fluid will build the SSB and place it nicely amongst all your other apps. Launching the app produces its own separate SSB window with its own functions, such as 1Password support and also a full menu bar and preferences, just like a full app.

You can also easily customize the favicons (which are automatically pulled from the original site when you create a SSB) and use your own images. You can find quite a few here on Flickr to get you started.

MyPorts is a very useful port scanning tool which will show you all the current open ports on your machine.
